Built in 1993.

Plumorchard shelter is the last one in Georgia before you reach Bly Gap and the North Carolina line. A magnificent shelter  0.3 miles west of the A.T., The shelter was built as a training exercise (airlift) by the rangers from Camp Frank Merill. Nice and roomy 3 level shelter. Good water source on the hike into the shelter from the trail. Spring near shelter, but better spring down ravine to left of A.T. at the gap. bear cables, privy, picnic table with roof, and a sky light.

Sleeps 14.

There aren't that many good tent sites.
